Fact Check: Will There Be Teachers’ Recruitment Along The Lines Of Agniveer? Here’s The Truth

Date:

A screenshot of a news article is shared on social media claiming that President Draupadi Murmu has approved new teacher recruitment along the lines of Agniveer. The Indian Army had started recruitment under Agnipath Recruitment Scheme, which received backlash from applicants across the country.

The image is shared on Facebook with the caption, “बधाई हो अग्निवीर शिक्षक सब की बारी आएगी,, अब बैंक बालो का भी कर ही दो”

(English translation: Congratulations Agniveer teacher, everyone’s turn will come, now do it for the bank children too)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be FALSE.

Starting with our investigation, we performed a keyword search but could not find any credible media report that corroborated the viral claim. Had President Murmu made such an announcement, mainstream media would have covered it.

Further, we looked closely at the viral image and did a keyword search with the text, “जुलाई में चार हजार से कम थे ग्वार के दाम, अब औसत भाव 5 हजार रुपये प्रति क्विंटल से अधिक” (Guar prices were less than four thousand in July, now the average price is more than 5 thousand rupees per quintal).

This search directed us to several news articles that reported the same in August 2021.

Searching further, we found a tweet by the Government of India’s fact check bureau that busted the viral claim on August 25, 2022. According to the tweet, the claim going viral in the name of new teacher recruitment is fake.

Thus, it is evident from the above information that no such announcement has been made by President Murmu regarding teacher recruitment under the Agnipath scheme.
