Ranchi: The suspended BJP leader Seema Patra was sent to 14-day police custody by the local court on Wednesday.
Public Prosecutor Pradeep Chaurasia confirmed that the court has sent Seema Patra to police remand till September 12.
The suspended BJP leader while talking to newswire agency ANI said that “These are false allegations, politically motivated allegations. I have been implicated”.
She was earlier arrested by Ranchi police on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting and torturing her house help, police officials said.
Seema Patra, who is the wife of former IAS officer, Maheshwar Patra, was suspended from the BJP on Tuesday after the video of her house help went viral in which she made the allegations.
House help Sunita was employed by the Patras around 10 years ago. She accused the suspended BJP leader of confining her and brutally torturing her.
Sunita has alleged that Seema Patra thrashed her regularly and also broke her teeth with an iron rod. She was also made to lick urine off the floor and was not given food for days.
“Police team rescued a 29-year-old woman working as a domestic help at the residence of an-ex IAS officer on August 22, after she was allegedly physically tortured by her employer. Case registered; probe on. The woman is currently undergoing medical treatment,” Police said.
