Ranchi: A 19-year-old girl was set on fire by a man after she allegedly turned down his proposal in Jharkhand’s Dumka district. The girl later succumbed to her burn injuries on Sunday.

  • According to reports, the accused poured petrol on her and set her ablaze on August 23.
  • Jharkhand police arrested two people including Shahrukh. Dumka SP further added that “We’ll apply at a fast track court for a fast trial. We appeal to people to maintain peace. The situation is under control and Sec 144 has been imposed.”
  • The Jharkhand government formed a 10-member SIT to overlook the investigation of the case.
  • SP Mandal, the DIG, Dumka said: “Evidence is being collected by the forensics team.The case will be supervised by the Superintendent of Police.”
