Fact Check: SRK’s Upcoming Film ‘Pathaan’ Has NOT Been Renamed To ‘Jawan’

Date:

A post is doing the rounds on social media, claiming that Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film Pathaan has been renamed to Jawan.

Facebook users are sharing poster of the movie with text: “हकले Shah Rukh Khan ने अपनी आने वाली फ़िल्म #Pathan का नाम बदलकर #जवान किया लेकिन आप सभी को बायकाॅट चालु रखना है” (English translation: Shah Rukh Khan has changed the name of his upcoming film #Pathaan to #Jawan. But You should still boycott it.)

The post can be seen here.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.

We also found a report by India Today, dated June 3, 2022, with a headline:”Jawan, Pathaan, Dunki… 2023 will be Shah Rukh Khan’s year.”

So, it is clear that both are separate movies. Posters of both movies were also shared by SRK on his Instagram account. See the post here and here.

According to the post, Pathaan will hit the big screens on January 25, 2023, whereas Jawan will be released on June 2, 2023.

According to IMDb (Internet Movie Database), Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has been directed by Siddharth Anand. And Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara, has been directed by Atlee Kumar.

Thus, it is clear that there are two separate movies, and the name of Pathaan has not been changed.
