New Delhi: A LinkedIn post by the CEO of Bombay Shaving Company asking freshers to “work 18-hours a day” has caught attention across the social media platforms on Tuesday.
CEO Shantanu Deshpande in a post on LinkedIn said that “When you are new in your job, throw yourself into it. Eat well and stay fit, but put in the 18 hours day for atleast 4-5 years.”
He further asked freshers “Don’t do random rona-dhona”. He further pointed out that “flex you build in the first 5 years of your career carries you for the rest of your life.”
The post caught attention across social media and many disagreed with the approach. Here are some of the reactions:
Why stop with 18? Why not work 24 or 48 hours straight and build even more "flex"? That way, you won't even have to take it just on your chin, but on your entire body and mind too. pic.twitter.com/s9ZXqEIhYb

If You try every single day to become better
you will find a balance & stable growth.Otherwise, 18 Hours of Work for 1-day is a waste of energy.

At a time when mass layoffs by Indian startups has become a norm, Shantanu Deshpande, Founder CEO of @BombayShavingCo is not only vouching for a toxic work culture, but also justifying himself even after people have called out his opinion on LinkedIn. What do you think about it? pic.twitter.com/JHfWBczAgL

18 hours of work.
No mental health
No physical health
Lack of nutrition
Lack of sleep
Lack of peaceThen, spend all the money that you earn on above things and lots of pills.
I'll choose to spend my money as per my wishes instead of digging a grave for me just for more money https://t.co/Ql8fbJ0M1V
