Date:

A video of a man in uniform talking about life and death saying ‘live and let live’ is being shared on social media. His video is being shared with a picture of a dead body claiming that the man in the video passed away.

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the posts and found the claim to be false.

While looking for similar posts on Facebook, we found that one of the videos had the watermark of @belakobaofficial.

We ran a search using that handle, which led us to a Facebook page called Belakoba. While scanning through the page, we found a post dated August 23, 2022, where it was clarified that the man in the video is alive and the post is fake.

The caption of the post read, “Please Don’t Share Fake News. Jeena Hai To Hans Ke Jiyo. This video went viral from our page. Suddenly today some inhuman people are spreading this fake post in the hope of getting some views on YouTube, and Facebook. We contacted sir…he is very healthy and well.”

Another post (dated August 19) on the page led us to a YouTube video dated August 16, 2022, from which this clip has been taken. In the video, the man shooting can be seen standing at a station called Gede. Gede is a village and a border checkpoint adjoining Bangladesh in Nadia district in West Bengal, India.

Moreover, in one of the frames, we can see the video banner reads ‘celebration of 76th independence Day…15th August -2022’.

Moreover, the viral clip can be seen at 6:52 min of the original video.

On searching further, we also found another YouTube video, that premiered on August 24, 2022. According to the video, the man in the video is BSF personnel Virendra Singh and that he is alive and well.

This proves that the man in the video is alive.

Moving further, we put the other image (of the dead body) through a Reverse Image Search and found that the same image was shared on Facebook on September 30, 2019.

The caption of the post read, “अंतिम दर्शन, शहीद राजेंद्रसिंह भाटी,जैसलमेर 30.09.2019.” (Last journey, Shaheed Rajendra Singh Bhati, Jaisalmer 30.09.2019)

Thus, it is clear from the above fact check that viral claim is false.
