The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Pakistan, reported that over the past 24 hours, flash floods and other rain-related incidents killed at least 36 people and injured 145.
In the above context, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Climate Change, Sherry Rehman, shared a video of a cloudburst with a caption, claiming it to be from Jamshoro city of Sindh. Many people have shared the same video with a caption: “A very rare cloudburst scene recorded in Jamshoro of Sindh.”

NewsMobile did the fact check, and found it to be misleading.
Doing a Google Reverse Image Search with one of the keyframes, we found DailyMail UK uploaded with the same video on February 25, 2020, with a title: “Apocalyptic rain and marshmallows in the sky: Perth is hammered by downpours, lightning, hail and strong winds topple trees, flood streets and damage cars and homes.”
The screenshot of the video had been uploaded on a Facebook page — Kane Artie Photography — dated August 5, 2022, with a caption: “This is just one of the shots from the storm Timelapse back in February 2020. When these microburst hit the ground, all the force has to go somewhere and it gets blasted outwards. As I was running back to the car, I found out just how powerful they are. I nearly got blown off my feet and had to pull myself along the fence to get back to the car. I would be lying if I said I didn’t crap myself a little bit at the time. But man, it’s just beautiful to see what Mother Nature can produce.”
This video also had been uploaded on the Facebook page, mentioning that it was captured in 2020. This video had a watermark: “Kane Artie Photography”.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is misleading.
