Dubai: As Indian head coach Rahul Dravid tested positive for COVID ahead of the Asia Cup, VVS Laxman will join the squad as interim coach for the Indian side in Dubai.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a statement confirmed that “Laxman, who travelled with the Indian team that played the ODI series in Zimbabwe will oversee the team’s preparation in the absence of Mr Rahul Dravid, who tested positive for COVID-19 before the team’s departure to the UAE.”
The statement further added that Rahul Dravid will join the team in Dubai once he tests negative and is cleared by the BCCI Medical Team.
Laxman has further linked up with the squad in Dubai along with Vice Captain KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda.
