New Delhi: The government in a major step has terminated the services of three Indian Air Force (IAF) officers involved in the accidental firing of the BrahMos missile which landed in Pakistan earlier this year.
According to IAF, a BrahMos missile was accidentally fired on March 9. A court of Inquiry (CoI) was set up to investigate the case which included fixing responsibility for the incident.
The CoI further found that the deviation from the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by three officers led to the accidental firing of the missile.
IAF further added that “These three officers have primarily been held responsible for the incident. Their services have been terminated by the Central Government with immediate effect. Termination orders have been served upon the officers on August 23,”.
Earlier the Pakistani Army had commented on the incident that an Indian projectile had entered the Pakistani airspace and caused some damage to the surrounding areas after it fell near Mian Channu territory in their territory.
