Moscow: The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) confirmed that a suicide bomber, allegedly a member of the Islamic State terror group, was detained on Monday.
According to Russian news agency Sputnik, the suicide bomber was plotting a terrorist attack against one of India’s leaders.
A statement issued by the authorities said that “ Russia’s FSB identified and detained a member of the Islamic State international terrorist organization banned in Russia, a native of a country in the Central Asian region, who planned to commit a terrorist act by blowing himself up against one of the representatives of the ruling circles of India,”.
The statement further revealed that the detained terrorist was recruited by one of the IS leaders in Turkey.
According to Home Ministry, the terror group uses various social media platforms to propagate the ideology.
