FACT CHECK

NewsMobile did the fact-check, and found it to be fake.

On doing a Google Reverse Image Search with one of the screenshots, we found a Bolivian website, Los Tiempos, carrying a screengrab from the same video, dated August 8, 2022. The caption associated with the image reads: “Coca grower who was injured during the confrontation between coca growers from Adepcoca and the police | video capture.”

We found a similar screengrab on another website, Notigram, on August 14, 2022, mentioning that ‘a coca grower injured grievously after a dynamite exploded in his hands while he was confronting the authorities in Bolivia’.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral incident is from Bolivia and not India. Thus, the viral claim is misleading.
