A nine-year-old Dalit boy from Surana village in the Jalore district of Rajasthan was allegedly thrashed to death by his teacher for touching the water pot. The incident took place on July 20, 2022, after which the boy was admitted to a hospital in Ahmedabad. The child succumbed to his injuries on August 13, 2022.
Against this backdrop, a video is being shared on social media with the claim that it is an old video of that nine-year-old boy, Indra Meghwal.
The video is being shared with the text: इंद्र हम शर्मिंदा हैं जातिवाद जिंदा है। (English translation: Indra we are ashamed, casteism is alive.)

Running a Reverse Image Search on the keyframes of the video, we found the same video shared by a Facebook user Kailash Bhati M, dated August 14, 2022, mentioning that the child in the video is Harish Bhil, a student of Higher Primary School in Gomarkh Dham (Barmer).
The caption reads: Brother this is not Indra Kumar Meghwal. This child is Harish Bheel, a student of Higher Primary School, Gomarkh Dham (Barmer). Please do not share wrong video.
The same video had been uploaded on the Facebook page of GUPS Gomrakh Dham Taratra, Chohtan, Barmer, dated July 30, 2022, with a caption: “No bag day ke दिन कक्षा 2 के विद्यार्थी हरीश द्वारा आत्मविश्वास से भरपूर शानदार प्रस्तुति” ( English translation: A great performance by Harish, a class II student on the occasion of ‘no bag day’.)
We also found the UDISE (Unified District Information System for Education) code of the GUPS Gomrakh Dham school. Based on that, we ran another search that led us to information about the students enrolled in government schools. The information was available on the website of Jansoochna.
As per the website, Harish is, indeed, a student of Class II at GUPS Gomrakh Dham Taratra, Barmer, in Rajasthan.
We also reached out to the school and it was confirmed that the video is of Harish.
Thus, it is clear that the video is from Barmer, and is not related to Indra Meghwal.
