As India celebrated 75 years of its Independence on August 15, 2022, a video of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan hoisting a BJP flag and singing the national anthem started doing rounds on social media with a claim that it was taken recently.

A Facebook user shared the video with the caption, “संघियों का तिरंगा प्रेम.. 👇#HarGharTiranga

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found the video to be old.

On putting keyframes of the video through Reverse Image Search, we found a tweet published on May 14, 2018, featuring the same video.

The tweet stated that Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan sang the National Anthem after hoisting the BJP flag at ‘Chalo Panchayat’ campaign program at Khajua village near Khajuraho.

With this information, we ran a Google search with relevant keywords and found an article by The Free Press Journal dated May 15, 2018.

As per the article, the incident happened on May 14, 2018, during an event of ‘Panchayat Chalo Abhiyan’ in Bhopal.
