DGCA Mandates Airlines To Follow COVID Protocols Amid Rising Cases

New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) advised the airlines on Wednesday to ensure that passengers wear masks throughout the journey. 

The orders come amid the recent spike in the number of daily cases in the past few weeks. DGCA further added that “In case a passenger does not comply with the directions, strict action will be taken by airlines against the passenger.” 

The DGCA has advised airlines to strictly enforce COVID-19 protocol, including the mask mandate. DGCA further advised airlines to ensure proper sensitization of passengers through various platforms while traveling. 

A senior DGCA official while talking to newswire agency ANI added that Covid cases are growing in the country and it is getting serious in view of this, they reiterated their instructions to the stakeholders.

He further added that “We will follow it up with random checks and in case of violation, tough action will be taken against concerned stakeholders,”.
