Mumbai: The court on Monday granted four-day custody of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Patra Chawl case.
Raut was arrested late on Sunday night in a money laundering case related to a slum redevelopment land scam.
Seeking his eight-day custody, ED told the special PMLA court in Mumbai on Monday that Praveen Raut was Sanjay Raut’s front man and that, Praveen Raut earned ₹112 crores of which only ₹1.06 crore has been traced so far to the ‘Saamana’ editor and his family.
the ED had said Raut was interfering with evidence and influenced several crucial witnesses in the money laundering case for which he is being investigated.
The court said the investigation into the money trail to his wife can be traced through a bank statement and such long custody is not needed.
Before being produced in court, was taken to the state-run JJ Hospital for a check-up.
