5G Spectrum Auction: Day 1 Ends With Bidding Amount Exceeding ₹1.45 lakh crore

New Delhi: The bidding for the ongoing 5G spectrum comes to an end on Tuesday with the bidding amount exceeding ₹1.45 lakh crore.

Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw added that they Hope to complete spectrum allocation by Aug 15 and 5G services are expected in many cities by the end of 2022.

The fifth round of the bidding auction will resume on Wednesday. According to reports, a total of 72 GHz (gigahertz) of radio waves worth at least Rs 4.3 lakh crore is up for bidding.

Four major bidders including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio, and Gautam Adani’s Adani Enterprise are taking part in the ongoing auction.

According to PTI, The auction is being held for spectrum in various low (600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz), mid (3300 MHz) and high (26 GHz) frequency bands.
