New Delhi: Amid the reports of Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena rejecting the proposal of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s visit to Singapore, Arvind Kejriwal in a letter said that he “humbly differ with the advice of Hon’ble LG.”
Arvind Kejriwal in a letter replied to the rejection of his visit and added that “It’s not just a Mayor’s Conference. It is a conference for leaders, knowledge experts, etc. The Singapore government has chosen to invite the Delhi CM.”
The letter further added that it is a matter of great pride that the Delhi model of governance, especially the work in the education, health, and power sectors is being discussed and recognized by the world.
He further took a jibe at the Central government and added that “If the visit of each Constitutional authority in our country were to be on the basis of what subjects fall within the jurisdiction of that authority, it would create a funny situation and a practical logjam.”
He further added that in such a situation the Prime Minister would not be able to go anywhere because in most of his visits, he discusses the subject that falls within the state lists and not in his jurisdiction.
CM Arvind Kejriwal further added that he differs from the advice of LG and will go ahead with the visit. He also urged LG to apply for political clearance from the central government.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in a press conference said that they will take their request to the Ministry of External Affairs for political clearance.
Earlier today, The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi returned the proposal regarding the Singapore visit of Arvind Kejriwal to attend the ‘Eighth World Cities Summit and WCS Mayors Forum’, and advised him to not attend a conference that is prima facie a conference of mayors.
