Prophet Mohammad Row: Supreme Court Protects Nupur Sharma From Arrest

New Delhi: Supreme Court on Tuesday directed that no coercive action be taken against Nupur Sharma on various FIRs in connection to her comments on Prophet Mohammad.

The apex court while hearing the matter said that it will correct to a small extent it’s earlier ruling. The order will protect Nupur Sharma from getting arrested in the case till the next hearing.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala issued notice to all respondents including various states where FIRs have been registered in the case and also to the Union of India. The bench said, meanwhile, as an interim measure, no coercive action shall be taken against the petitioner.

According to reports, the Supreme Court has further agreed to club the nine FIRs against former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma in different states and will hear the matter on August 10.

Adv Maninder Singh appearing for Nupur Sharma claimed that there are serious threats to her life. The apex court also took note of the Salman Chishti, viral statement killing the petitioner.
