Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post of governor of West Bengal, after being announced as NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate for the upcoming polls. Dhankhar was appointed as the Governor of West Bengal in 2019.
J P Nadda, BJP president, made the announcement and praised Dhankhar as a “Kisan-Putra” (farmer’s son) and “people’s governor.”
Nadda also urged the opposition groups to back Jagdeep Dhankhar, the vice presidential candidate of the ruling National Democratic Alliance, citing the candidate’s humble background.
Meanwhile, Margaret Alva, a senior Congress leader, and former Union minister have been announced as the opposition’s joint candidate for the vice presidential election on August 6.
