From ‘Cheated’ To ‘Chamcha’, Here Are Words Listed As ‘Unparliamentary’

Date:

New Delhi: From jumlajeevi to Ashamed to Abused, the Parliament released a new set of words ahead of the monsoon session which are considered unparliamentary.

Use of words such as jumlajeevi, Baal buddhi, Covid spreader, and Snoopgate, along with commonly used words such as ashamed, abused, betrayed, corrupt, drama, hypocrisy, and incompetent, will now be deemed as insulting and offensive in the Parliament.\

After a row erupted, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday clarified that no word had been “banned” in either house and the list was merely a compilation of expressions that had been scrubbed off records in the past.

According to a PTI report, the booklet, which comes ahead of the Monsoon session beginning Monday, stated that words and expressions like vinash purush, Khalistani, anarchist, Shakuni, vinash purush, Khalistani, dictatorial, taanashah, taanashahi, Jaichand, and Khoon se kheti, will be excluded from the record if being used in the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha.

As per the guidebook, the Lok Sabha secretary-general has also listed words like dohra Charitra, nikamma, nautanki, dhindora peetna, and behri sarkar as inappropriate and offensive expressions.

Some keywords that have been declared insulting and offensive by the chair in respective statutory bodies in the country as well as in Commonwealth Federal parliament have been gathered by the Lok Sabha Secretary general for future analysis.

The Rajya Sabha founder and Lok Sabha presenter, moreover, will have the final say in removing words and expressions.

The partial list makes references to vocabulary defined oddly phrased in India’s Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, and state legislatures in 2021, as well as those prohibited in some Confederation Parliaments in 2020.

According to the list, some of the key phrases may not arise unseemly if read in combination with other expressions used during judicial proceedings.

The collection of phrases also contains any judgements made against the seat in either English or Hindi in both houses, which are regarded as unseemly and are erased from Legislature’s records.

The Rajya Sabha founder or the Lok Sabha presenter evaluates the words uttered during the meeting, and undiplomatic words are removed.
Such words are not included in either the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha’s files.
