A picture of legendary footballers — Diego Maradona, Pele and Michel Platini — is doing the rounds on social media, in which Maradona and Platini’s t-shirts read: “No Drugs” and “No to Corruption”, respectively. It has been claimed that the picture in question is from 1986.
The caption of the image reads: “The year is 1986. The sign on Maradona’s shirt says “No Drugs” on Platini’s “No to Corruption”.

FACT CHECK
When NewsMobile fact-checked the above post, it was found to be partially false.
On putting the picture through Google Reverse Image Search, we came across several articles carrying the same picture. One such article was on the official website of the Associated Press (AP), dated November 2020. And the picture in the article was credited to AP.
Using relevant keywords, we checked the AP archives website and found the same picture. As per the metadata, the picture in question was taken on May 23, 1988, during Platini’s jubilee at Nancy stadium in Eastern France.
Hence, it is established that the picture in question is from 1988 and NOT 1986, as claimed.
