Southampton: India will clash with England in the first T20 game on Thursday at the Rose Bowl Cricket ground.
After suffering a decisive loss against England in the fifth Test match, the Indian side will be looking to bounce back and focus on the upcoming three T20s and three ODIs scheduled this month.
Rohit Sharma will join the squad as captain of the side after recovering from COVID due to which he missed the final test game. A lot is at stake for India considering the ICC rankings. England currently at number two in the ranking will be looking to win the T20 series and secure the top position.
The BCCI announced two separate teams for the three T20s, with one team including performers from the South Africa series. Virat Kohli, Mohd Shami and Jasprit Bumrah will not be part of the squad in the first T20 game.
Rohit during his brief interaction with the press said that pacing sensation Umran Malik is part of the scheme for the upcoming series. He further added that the team management will have to decide his role and how he will fit in the team.
Jos Butler will take over the white ball captainship after Eoin Morgan announced his retirement from international cricket. The English side looks well in form after the last win and will take on the field with a more seasoned and sharp T20 side.
The match will start live from 10:00 pm IST (local time 6 pm).
