Birmingham: Amid the ongoing test match between India and England, a section of Indian fans in the stands were racially abused towards the end of the fourth day of the test, leading to an investigation by the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The claims surfaced on Twitter when several Indian fans complained about racial abuse and taunts during the match from other cricket fans in the stands.
The ECB issued a statement and said that the board is “very concerned to hear the reports of racial abuse at today’s test match.”
The board further added that they are in contact with the colleagues at Edgbaston who will investigate. The board assured that there is no place for racism in cricket and they are trying to create a safe and inclusive working environment.
The Warwickshire County Cricket further released a statement saying that they are in touch with the people who raised the complaint on Twitter and the board is in touch with the stewards from the area to establish what happened.
