India Vs England Test: Bumrah Plays Captain’s Knock, Hits Most Runs In An Over In A Test Match

Date:

Edgbaston: Indian Captain Jasprit Bumrah played a cameo role towards the end of the innings by hitting 31 runs in just 16 deliveries on the second day of the fifth test match against England.

Jasprit Bumrah smashed 35 runs in an over, registering the most runs in an over in Test cricket’s history. He scored 29 runs in the last over with 5 runs wide and a no-ball in the over. On the other hand, Stuart Board was the bowler and now holds the record of giving away most runs in an over in two formats. The first came against Yuvraj Singh in T20 where he was smashed 6 sixes in an over by him.

Ravindra Jadeja marked his presence with the bat as he reached the 100 mark on day two of the fifth test match as the first innings concluded at 416 runs for the Indian side.

In-form batsman Jadeja hits his third test century with a dominating start on day two of the fifth test match.

Ravindra Jadeja on the first day built a crucial partnership with Rishabh Pant, who scored 146 runs in the first innings. Both the players helped the team recover from the slump after the second session on day one of the test. The partnership of 222 runs helped the team to get to a comfortable position.

Rishabh Pant’s gutsy knock of 146 runs smashed several records on iconic finals of the “game of time”. Pant became the second Indian wicketkeeper-batsman after Mahendra Singh Dhoni to reach a triple-figure score in test cricket in just 89 balls smashing Dhoni’s record.

Pant and Jadeja became the third and fourth Indian batsmen to score centuries on the Edgbaston ground. The 222 runs partnership is the highest sixth-wicket partnership for India against England.

As India will walk out to bowl, the team will look to get hold and dominate over England as early as possible. The struggle continues for Virat Kohli as he got dismissed early in the game on day one.
