Swedish furniture retailer, IKEA’s first store in Bengaluru recently opened on 22nd of June and witnessed mass gathering of locals outside the outlet. The store is situated near Nagasandra metro station.
On Saturday people outside the store, reported that they waited for around 3 hours and some of them even could not get a stance in the huge 4,60,000 sq ft store. Nagasandra metro station is said to be one of the least crowded metro stations during the weekends but on Saturday, people rushed and showed their love for the Brand.
On 19th of June IKEA arranged early visit to the store for the IKEA family members and they were granted early hands to the products before anyone else. The mass gathering got viral on internet and was known nation-wide. The photos and videos of the gathering were posted on Instagram, Twitter, and other social networking platforms.
Through a recent tweet IKEA India said expressed, “Bengaluru, we are overwhelmed by your response. Current wait time at Nagasandra store is 3 hours. Please plan accordingly or shop online.” Netizens flooded the Instagram pages and social media handles with memes and quotations regarding the new outlet.
