Indian test captain Rohit Sharma has tested positive for COVID ahead of the fifth and the final test match against England starting from 1st July.
The Board Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) in a statement said that the skipper was tested positive following a Rapid Antigen Test. BCCI further confirmed that he has been shifted to isolation from other players in the team hotel under the care of the BCCI medical team.
Speculations over his health started brewing after his innings in the practice game against Leicestershire where he scored 25 runs.
Earlier this week, Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin tested positive for COVID while he was travelling to join the squad for the upcoming test match against England.
Stakes are high as India will be eyeing on a series win in England for the first time since 2007-08.
