Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile Successfully Tested By DRDO

New Delhi: Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) & Indian Navy on Friday successfully flight-tested Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM). The launch was conducted from an Indian Naval Ship, off the seacoast of Chandipur, Odisha.

VL-SRSAM is a ship-borne armament system that would be used for neutralising various aerial threats at close ranges including Ocean-skimming targets. DRDO officials say that The launch of the system which was held today was against a high- speed aerial target mimicking aircraft, which was successfully engaged.

The flight path and the health parameters of the vehicle were covered with the tracking instruments stationed by Integrated Test Range( ITR) chandipur and the monitoring was done by the senior officers from DRDO and Indian Navy.
