Defence Ministry Extends Upper Age Limit To 23 Years For Agnipath Scheme

New Delhi: Amid instances of nationwide protest and agitation against the Agnipath Scheme launched by the Defence Ministry, the central government has decided to increase the age limit from 21 years to 23 years on Thursday.

According to reports, Defence Ministry has decided to grant a one-time waiver in the Agnipath Scheme by extending the upper age limit to 23 from the earlier decided 21 years old.

The decision is taken amid nationwide protest and agitation against the short-term recruitment scheme launched by the government.

The government in a release said that the decision has been taken as no recruitment had taken place in the last two years

The scheme will provide recruitment opportunities to youth by inducting them into the defence forces for a period of 4 years.
