Bangkok: Thailand decriminalized Cannabis (Marijuana) becoming the first country to decriminalize the drug.
The new rule allows citizens of Thailand to sell, grow and trade Marijuana without any restrictions. It can be further used for clinical purposes for curing illnesses.
Is Smoking Pot Legal?
Well, smoking joints is still out of bounds. The Health Minister clarified that tough penalties will still apply to the people who use the drug to get high or for recreational purposes.
What Changes Does Decriminalization Bring?
The upliftment of the ban will now permit Cafes and restaurants to serve drinks and foods infused with cannabis. However, the catch is that the level of products must contain less than 0.2% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the plant’s main psychoactive compound.
According to a report by the U.S News, lawyers celebrated the removal of restriction by buying cannabis drinks at a Highland Cafe from several options available like sugarcane, bubblegum, Purple Afghani, and UFO.
