New Delhi: Congress Interim Chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday in connection to the National Herald case which was closed by the agency back in 2015.
Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi in a press briefing accused BJP of using central agencies like ED as puppets to intimidate political opponents. He added that the National Herald has a history that dates back to the days of Independence.
Singhvi further accused BJP of reopening the case in which ED had cleared the leader back in 2015.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that “The National Herald was started back in 1942, at that time the British tried to suppress it, today Modi govt is also doing the same & ED is being used for this.
He further added that “We will not get frightened, we will bow down.” The National Herald case has allegations of misappropriation of assets over ₹2,000 crores.
