Mumbai: Royal Challengers Bangalore were knocked out from IPL after suffering a crushing defeat against Rajasthan Royals. Virat Kohli ended the campaign this season on a rough note.
In the crucial knockout game against RR, Virat failed to convert his innings into a big one and was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna. Kohli looked both uncomfortable and unsettled in the last innings.
Veteran cricketer Virendra Sehwag in an interview with Cricbuzz talked about Virat’s form and his struggle in the middle. He said that “When you are out of form, you aim to hit every delivery you face with the middle of the bat and when you hit, it gives you confidence.” He further added that Virat left a few deliveries in the start but went to hit one odd delivery.
Sehwag also said that “He has committed more mistakes in this season than he has made in his entire career.” Sehwag also pointed out that when a batsman goes out of form he tends to try various things to turn situations in his favor.
Virat Kohli has managed to score 341 runs in this season with an average of 22.73 in 16 innings. His struggle with form is termed to be a major concern for the Indian Cricket with consecutive series and World Cup slated this year.
Sanjay Manjrekar voiced his opinion on Virat’s form. In a tweet after the knockout game he said that “Virat wanting to be on the front foot no matter what is not helping his cause. Mental toughness takes you far sure, but technical issues cannot be ignored completely. Crunch game.. front foot to a short of length bouncing ball cost him his wicket again.”
IPL has come to the finals of the tournament where Gujarat Titans will clash with Rajasthan Royals on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
