Texas: Tesla CEO Elon Musk indicated that Auto manufacturing giant Tesla will not put a manufacturing unit in India.

The comment came on Twitter when a user questioned him on plans of Tesla to put up a manufacturing unit in India, the billionaire responded that “Tesla will not put a manufacturing plant in any location where we are not allowed first to sell and service cars.”

The comments made one thing clear, the standstill between India and Tesla will continue for some more time.

Union Minister of Transport and Highway Nitin Gadkari in April said that Elon Musk is welcomed to set up a plant in India, but in case the Tesla owner desires to build in China and sell here, it cannot be a “good proposition”.

The comment was made when asked about the “high duties” imposed by India on Tesla for selling cars in India.

Earlier in January, Elon Musk while answering a similar question said that “Still working through a lot of challenges with governments”.
