Amid waterlogging in Bangalore due to heavy rains, a picture is being widely shared on social media in which cars can be seen submerged in water claiming that it shows a flood-like situation in Bangalore.
The image is shared on Facebook with a caption in the Telugu: “బెంగుళూరులో కార్ల ఈత పోటీ నిర్వహించిన డబుల్ ఇంజిన్ సర్కార్..నోట్: ప్రకృతి విపత్తులు వస్తే ఎంతటి ప్రభుత్వాలు కూడా ఆపలేవు..తర్వాత తీసుకునే చర్యలే ముఖ్యం.. హైదరాబాద్ లో వర్షం పడగానే శునకానందం పొందే వారికోసం”
(English translation: Double engine government conducted car swimming competition in Bangalore. Note: No government can stop natural disasters. It’s the actions you take afterwards that matter. For those who get dog happiness as soon as it rains in Hyderabad.”)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be FALSE.
Doing a simple Reverse Image Search directed us to a news report published on October 19, 2021, that carried the same viral image.
The image description reads, “Submerged cars are seen at a flooded hotel resort as extreme rainfall caused the Kosi River to overflow at the Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, India, Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021. More than 20 people have died and many are missing in floods triggered by heavy rains in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, officials said Tuesday.”
The same image was also published in an article published by Al Jazeera on October 20, 2021. The image description reads, “Submerged cars are seen at a flooded hotel resort as extreme rainfall caused the Kosi River to overflow at the Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, India.” Financial Express also carried the same image reporting the 2021 Uttarkhand flood.
Thus, it is evident from the above information that an old image from Uttarakhand is falsely linked to recent heavy rainfall in Bangalore. Therefore, the claim attached to the picture is false.
