A massive asteroid is on its way to Earth, warned by NASA.

NASA is tracking the space rock Asteroid 388945 (2008 TZ3), which will pass close to Earth on May 16 at 2.48 a.m. local time.

The asteroid is predicted to be broader than 960 feet, according to NASA. It is 50 times the height of a giraffe and about the same size as the Eiffel Tower.

If the asteroid crashes, the results might be disastrous. NASA’s projections, on the other hand, reveal that the asteroid is about 5.7 million kilometres from Earth.

NASA has designated the approaching incident as a “near approach” since the distance is not great in space terms.
