FACT CHECK
NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be Misleading.
On doing a Google Reverse Image Search, we found the black and white version of the same image which was uploaded by a website, Spentamultimedia, with a caption that read, “Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Law Minister with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister and other Cabinet colleagues at the get-together hosted by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Deputy Prime Minister in honour of C. Rajagopalachari, Governor General (June 1948).”
Another website, Zoroastrians also shared the same photo from a different angle. The image was shared with a caption that read, “Nehru’s Cabinet seen at lunch hosted by Sardar Patel after C. Rajagopalachari became Governer-General, 1948. Seated here are: Rafi Ahmad Kidwai, Baldeve Singh, Maulana Azad, Jawaharlal Nehru, C. Rajagopalachari, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur, John Matthai, Jagjivan Ram, Mr Gadgil, Mr Neogi, Dr Ambedkar, Shyama Prasad Mookherji, Gopalaswamy Iyengar and Jayaramdas Daulatram.”
Hence, an image of lunch hosted by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister, is being widely shared with a misleading claim.
