New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday retaliated against the BJP over NDMC’s move to start an anti-encroachment drive in violence-hit Jahangirpuri.
In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi said: “This is demolition of India’s constitutional values. This is state-sponsored targeting of the poor and minorities. BJP must bulldoze the hatred in their hearts instead.”
In response to Gandhi’s comment, Union Minister Anurag Thakur asked him to “switch off bulldozers of hate”.
Addressing the press conference Thakur said, “Whose own history is proof of corruption and riots, you can expect such statements from him. He is sowing the seed of hatred, he is doing no good to the country, He is only maligning the country’s image. “
The comments came after the BJP-led North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) scheduled an anti-encroachment action wherein illegal construction in the Jahangirpuri area was to be removed. Later the Supreme Court has to intervene and halt the demolition drive.
