New Delhi: India witnessed a spike in the number of COVID cases on Wednesday with the daily count of COVID cases going up to 2,067 with the active caseload standing at 12,340 in the last 24 hours.

India observed a spike of 65.7% in terms of fresh covid cases recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.
Delhi recorded 632 new covid cases in the last 24 hours.
The spike in cases in Delhi goes up by 4.42% in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra logged 137 new covid cases which included 85 cases registered in Mumbai in the last 24 hours.
The total active caseload in the state of Maharashtra stands at 660.
The death toll in Kerala stands at 40 in the last 24 hours which includes 32 deaths added recently by the state government in the tally.

Shanghai has been battling through the worst covid outbreak in the city. The city logged 2,494 cases on Wednesday according to the National Health Commission, China.
China on Tuesday recorded 2,753 locally transmitted cases of Covid.
The Biden administration will take a call on whether they will continue to mandate the wearing of masks in public transport like trains and airplanes.
The officials said that they will be taking a call after a nod from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
