A video of a female cop searching a woman and finding a pistol on her is doing rounds on social media with a claim that the accused is a teacher from the minority community and this happened in Uttar Pradesh.
The video is being shared with the caption, “UP : मैनपुरी में जींस में तमंचा लगाकर घूम रही एक मुस्लिम शिक्षिका को पुलिस ने दबोचा है।”

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.
Firstly, we ran a keyword search and multiple reports on the same incident. An NDTV report dated April 13, identified the girl as Karishma Singh Yadav.
According to the report, “officials said Karishma Singh Yadav is a teacher in a school in Firozabad and was in Mainpuri because of some work.’
According to a report by Times Now, ‘Police nabbed the girl with a 315 country-made pistol. Cops traced the woman following a tip-off that a woman was moving in the Kotwali area of the city with a weapon.’
While investigating we also found that while replying to a similar Twitter post, Mainpuri Police clarified that the woman in the video is NOT a teacher.
The tweet read, “After an investigation in the said case, it was found that the woman caught with the gun is not a teacher. From where the firearm was brought, for what purpose, in this regard, the investigation is being done by registering a case in the police station Kotwali.”
Thus, based on the above information it is evident that the woman in the video is neither a teacher nor does she belong to the minority community. Hence, we can conclude that the viral post is fake.
