New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday revealed that the Congress reached out to the BSP Chief Mayawati during Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and offered to form an alliance and become the Chief Minister, but she did not respond to the offer.
“We reached out to Mayawati. We asked her to form an alliance. Become the Chief Minister. But she didn’t even talk about it,” Rahul Gandhi said during a book launch.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while talking about the abuse of central agencies by the government said that “She refused to fight for the voice of Dalits because of CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation), ED (Enforcement Directorate), Pegasus.”
In the event, he also talked about RSS and said “We must protect the Constitution. To save the Constitution we have to protect the institutions. Institutions are under RSS.”
Both the Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party faced a massive blow in the Uttar Pradesh elections where Congress managed to win only two seats and BSP managed to secure a single seat out of 403 seats.
