Centre formally handed over Air India to Tata Group on January 27, 2022, seven decades after it took the airline away from the company. Following this, a post has gone viral on social media claiming after TATA’s takeover, authorities have recently assigned Swati, daughter of President Ram Nath Kovind, ground duties instead of flight attendant duties she was performing earlier due to security reasons.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral claim and found it to be misleading.
Oner performing relevant keyword searches on Google, we found several reports from 2017 stating that President Kovind’s daughter was assigned ground duties at Air India due to security reasons in October 2017.
According to a Hindustan Times report that was published on November 12, 2017, Swati was a cabin crew on Air India’s long-haul Boeing 787 and Boeing 777 flights. She was deputed to Air India’s integration department at the airline’s headquarters, according to a spokesperson from the airline.
NDTV and Firstpost also reported the same back in 2017.
The TATA group took over the management and control of the airline in January 2022 whereas Swati was assigned the ground duties back in 2017.
Hence, with the above information, the viral claim is misleading.
