31-year-old Rajasthan Police constable Netresh Sharma took social media by storm when his picture showing him running through fire to save an infant’s life surfaced online.  The incident took place during communal violence in Rajasthan’s Karauli that broke out on Saturday.

Senior Superintendent of Police of Shamli, IPS Sukriti Madhav Mishra tweeted the image hailing Sharma’s brave act and wrote, “So proud of constable Netresh Sharma of Rajasthan Police for saving a precious life. This picture is indeed worth a thousand words.”

In no time, netizens started resharing the image that shows Sharma holding the infant in his arms and running through narrow lanes of Karauli while lauding his act of bravery.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also praised Sharma’s bravery and dialed the constable and announced his promotion as head constable.

The Rajasthan police on Monday arrested 46 people and detained seven others for interrogation following a stone-pelting incident during a religious procession in Karauli on Saturday.

The Inspector-General (IG) of Police, Bharatpur Range, Prasanna Kumar Khamesra said, “After stone pelting took place during the procession in Futa Kot area Main Bazaar Karauli on Saturday, the police acted promptly and arrested 46 people and detained seven people for interrogation.”
