A video of car being vandalized is being widely shared on social media with a claim that this happened in Kolkata and the act was carried out by members of the minority community.
The video is being shared with a caption that reads: “ये विडीयो कलकत्ता का है, बंगाल में हालात एकदम पाकिस्तान जैसे बने हुए हैं, और ये जो गाड़ी के शीशे तोड़ रहे हैं वो मुल्ले हैं, क्यूं कि इनको सड़क पर बैठ कर रोजे खोलने हैं.” (English translation: “This video is from Kolkata, the situation in Bengal is like Pakistan, and those who are breaking the glass of the car are Muslims, and they are doing so as they have to open fasts by sitting on the road.”)

NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be fake.
On doing a Google Reverse Image Search with one of the screenshots, we found that the same video was uploaded by an Instagram user on May 24, 2018, with a caption that read, “Basel hooligans attack zürich and Karlsruher cars!”
Taking a hint we searched with appropriate keywords and found the same video was uploaded on May 22, 2018, on a website 20min.Ch. The report suggested that a scuffle erupted near the St. Jakob Stadium in which around 30 people from Basel, who were wearing white protective suits and were painting bridge pillars on the Autobahn on Birsstrasse, were attacked after 11 p.m. by a mob of around 60 people. The report further suggested that other cars were also attacked by the mob on Lehenmattstrasse. In the case of a black jeep, the thugs even tried to pull the driver out of the car, but he was able to escape by reversing the vehicle. The graphic videos of the mass beating went viral online over the weekend and were shared by thousands.

Hence we can ascertain that an old video from Switzerland is widely being shared with false narrative.
