NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be misleading.
On doing a Google Reverse image search, we found the same image was uploaded by a Twitter user on March 12, 2017, with the caption that reads, “This news is getting highlighted in canary wharf, the banking hub of London. Zoom it Still any doubt that 56″ rocks?”
We found the same image was also uploaded by BJP social media head Amit Malviya on March 12, 2017, with a caption that read, “News of BJP’s big win under Prime Minister Modi splashed in Canary Warf, prominent business district of London. Zoom it.”
We found that TV5 also did a video report about BJP’s victory in UP being highlighted in London on March 13, 2017. In the video one can clearly see the text ‘Modi wins landslide election victory in India’s biggest state’ being displayed on the building. The video was shared with a description that reads, “Modi’s UP Victory News Highlighted In Canary Wharf, The Banking Hub Of London.”
Hence, we can ascertain that old image of Canary Warf, London, is being widely shared as that of message displayed at the New York Stock Exchange after BJP’s victory in UP Polls 2022.
