As Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, some images of toddlers have surfaced on social media platforms with a claim that the visuals are from war-hit Ukraine.
A Facebook user shared the image with the caption, “The biggest loss of world evil is innocents… #Ukraina #Putin.”
Similarly, another image of an injured child is being shared with a similar claim.
#RussiaUkraineConflict #PeaceBeUponAll #NoWar,” reads the caption with this image.
FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral images and found them to be shared with misleading claims.

On performing Reverse Image Search, we found that the viral image is a still from a Russian music video that was uploaded on YouTube on August 16, 2015. The viral visual can be seen at 51 seconds mark in the video.
“Angel, a song about the children of Donbas,” reads the Russian title of the video when translated to English.
Clearly, the image is not from the current times in war-torn Ukraine.

On performing a Reverse Image Search, we found the same image carried in a BBC report that was published on January 6, 2018. “At least 25 civilians were reported killed in airstrikes in Eastern Ghouta last week,” reads the caption with the image.
Hence, the image shows a child injured in the attacks in Syria in 2018.
Therefore, unrelated images of kids are viral with misleading claims amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine to create a false narrative.
