How Ukraine’s Comedian-Turned-President Shows He Is A True Leader

Date:

He was Ukraine’s most popular performer. A stand-up comedian. Now he is the President of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky is being hailed by many as a true leader, standing firm in the face of Russian aggression.

April 2019 turned out to be a turning point both for Zelensky and Ukraine when Zelensky won a unbelievable 73 percent of the vote in elections.

Ukraine elected its best known actor-comedian as its President. He became president solely based on his popularity.

“I will never let you down,” Zelensky said and promised to bring peace, but Russia stood in the way.

He is now facing the greatest crisis and threat to his country.

Russian troops attacked 16 cities across Ukraine, including the capital, Kyiv, on Thursday. When the Ukrain was imperiling, residents were urged to take shelter, while Zelensky was urged to evacuate from Kyiv by the West, but the President refused the American offer, committed to stay, saying “The fight is here.”

Volodymyr Zelensky recorded a video of himself from the streets of Kyiv, saying “I am here. We will not lay down our weapons. We will defend our Country. Our weapons are our strength.”

Volodymyr did not choose to fight, neither had he any experience of presidency except of playing president on the screen.

BUT during Ukraine’s biggest crisis, he has acted just like a wartime president should.
