Many truck drivers have resorted to protests in Canada to oppose vaccine mandate for truckers crossing the US-Canada border. Protests began early January and subsequently gained momentum against allied COVID-19 regulations.
In this backdrop, a photograph of some people gathered in a circle is widely being shared on social media with a claim that truckers are praying amid the protests.
The image is being shared with a caption that reads, “Truckers gather to pray for guidance and protection.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be fake.
On doing a Google Reverse Image Search we found the same image published on a Honduran website Laprensa on March 31, 2020. The title associated with the image read in Spanish, “Encomendándose a Dios inician jornada laboral conductores de transporte pesado”. (English translation: “Honduran truck drivers praying to God before starting their work amid the coronavirus pandemic.”)
The Facebook page of Honduran Institute of Land Transport, Instituto Hondureño del Transporte Terrestre, also uploaded the image on March 30, 2020, with the caption that reads, “Conductores de transporte de carga inician su jornada laboral con una oración. Este es un ejemplo digno de reconocer para estas personas que son las encargadas del suministro de productos a nivel nacional.” (English translation, “Cargo drivers start their work day with prayer. This is a worthy example of recognition for these people who are in charge of the supply of goods at a national level.”)
Hence, an old video from Honduras is widely being shared with the claim that it shows truckers praying during the ‘Freedom Convoy’ protest in Canada.
