We extracted keyframes of the video and put them through Reverse Image Search and found that the same video was uploaded on YouTube on January 30, 2022, with the title, Ex BJP MP Ravindra Rai attacked. Driver steers vehicle out of danger..”
Taking a cue from this, we ran a keyword search and found that a similar video was uploaded by ETV Bharat Jharkhand on January 31, 2022. “Former Koderma MP Ravindra Kumar Rai attacked, the windows of the car were broken. ETV Bharat Jharkhand,” the translated title of the report read.
The video of the incident was also uploaded by Live Hindustan.
According to a report by TV9, the mob turned violent while protesting about the inclusion of Bhojpuri and Magahi in Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations. Former BJP MP Ravindra Rai’s vehicle was attacked. The report mentioned that an FIR was also filed after the incident.
Moreover, we also looked for reports about the attack on Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Shrikant Sharma but did not find any credible media report to corroborate the claim.
Hence, it is clear that the video is being shared with a misleading claim.
