Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday filed his nomination from Gorakhpur Urban assembly seat as voting in the multi-phase elections in India’s most populous and crucial state begin from February 10.
Accompanied by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Yogi Adityanath submitted his papers in the collectorate in Gorakhpur. He is contesting the assembly polls for the first time. Adityanath who took over as UP chief minister had won the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat for five times in the past.

Before filing his nomination, Yogi Adityanath performed special ‘puja’ and ‘havan’ in the Goraknath temple where seers and BJP supporters were present to extend their support to him.
Addressing a public meeting, Amit Shah called upon party leaders, workers and supporters to work for winning 300 plus seats in this election. Voting in Gorakhpur will take place in the sixth phase of elections on March 3 and counting of votes will be taken up on March 10.
In his election affidavit, Yogi Adityanath declared assets worth Rs 1,54,94,054, including cash in hand, balance of six bank accounts and savings. He also declared that he owns a Samsung mobile phone worth Rs 12,000, a revolver worth Rs 1,00,000 and a rifle worth Rs 80,000. He does not own a house and car.
According to the affidavit, he also owns a gold ear ornament weighing 20 grams worth Rs 49,000 and a gold chain and Rudraksha neck ornament weighing 10 grams worth Rs 20,000.
In his affidavit, Yogi Adityanath has declared income of Rs 13,20,653 in FY 2020-21, income of Rs 15,68,799 in FY 2019-20, income of Rs 18,27,639 in FY 2018-19 and income of Rs 14,38,670 for FY 2017-18.
