Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose to wear a cap from Uttarakhand and a stole from Manipur during 73rd Republic Day celebrations.
PM Modi wore a pahadi topi adorned with a Brahmakamal, the state flower of Uttarakhand.
He also wore a traditional st Leirum Phee stole from Manipur.
The stole was of white, black and red woven cloth and is a leitmotif of the Meitei.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was impressed with PM Modi’s selection and expressed his “heartfelt gratitude”. He tweeted, “Today, on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has made the culture and tradition of our state proud by wearing the cap of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, adorned with Brahma Kamal.
He also tweeted, “On behalf of the 1.25 crore people of Uttarakhand, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister.”

Both the states, Manipur and Uttarakhand are going for Assembly Polls next month.
