A claim has gone viral on social media platforms that Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family have announced setting up of a solar plant at Ram Temple in Ayodhya for uninterrupted power supply.

A Facebook user shared an image of Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani with a caption in Hindi that can be roughly translated in English to, “Solar power plant in Ayodhya Dham. Greetings to Ram devotees. The Ambani family has used solar power for power supply of Lord Shri Ram’s temple in Ayodhya Dham. There were discussions about setting up an energy plant. Now there will be electricity in the temple 24×7 free of cost. Hail Ramchandra ji.”

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral claim and found it to be false.

We performed relevant keyword searches on Google but did not find any media report corroborating the claim in the viral post.

On checking further, we found a report by The New Indian Express published on August 25, 2021, stating Ayodhya is in line for transformation into a solar city. As per the article, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been asked to prepare a detailed project report.

“As per the New and Renewable Energy Development Agency officials, it has a four-pronged strategy in Ayodhya — solar power generation from ground-mounted utility-scale and solar plants, arranging solar cooking for community kitchens for devotees visiting the Ram Temple, fulfilling energy requirement of the Shri Ram Temple Complex from solar and other renewable sources,” reads an excerpt of the article.

According to a Hindustan Times report, L&T’s project will be focused on transforming the temple town of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh into a solar city, meeting its maximum electricity requirement including that of the Ram Temple Complex.

We also checked the Reliance website and allied social media handles besides that of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra but did not find any such announcement.

Therefore, it can be concluded that the viral claim is false.
